A magnificent 18th-century Italian majolica charger, finely painted in the Urbino manner. The central scene depicts a mythological tableau, with mermen and figures on a sea chariot, surrounded by marine deities and flowing waves. The broad rim is richly decorated with cherubs, arabesques, and scrolling foliate designs, painted in vibrant blue, green, ochre, and terracotta tones.
